What's on where

Welcome to the first BunkFest Community Street Fair! Some exciting, major community projects have been launched in Wallingford this year: Expansion of the Museum, Modernisation of the Corn Exchange and Conversion of The Old Free Library. The Mayor of Wallingford has specifically chosen these as his supported causes for his year in office.

To support the Mayor, BunkFest 2006 is our Community and Culture Edition. We wanted to give local community groups (large and small) a chance to tell townspeople and visitors alike about all the wonderful things going on in Wallingford. So, many clubs and organisations will have stalls and displays in the town centre. Do support them generously.

If you are involved with a local community group and would like to book a stall, or if you have any queries please click here to send a message to the Community Street Fair organisation team. To download an information sheet / stall application form in pdf format right click here and select "Save Target As".

Come and cheer The Old Free Library in the Rowing Challenge against Barclays Bank! No water is involved – unless it rains – as the teams will use rowing machines. 10.00-11.00 Saturday Market Place. Go and look at The Old Free Library building too, before its renovation – they have a grand clearance sale. The adjacent Methodist Church will also be serving refreshments.

Dance teams from across the country will take over the streets, including the Market Place (see Dance schedule). Lots of roving Street Entertainers will delight you throughout the day. Stilt walkers, a mime artist and Celtic musicians from Will-o'-the-Wisp will be weaving in amongst the crowds, challenging all to join in with their antics. And I dare you not to laugh with our Cosmic Jester Alan Whittaker, who is a dab hand on the Bodhran, Gob Iron, Spoons and Frattling Board! – ask him, not me! There will also be live music in the Corn Exchange Bar and entertainments various at The Café @ down-to-earth.

Please note that Town Centre roads will be closed to all traffic 10.00-16.00 so that everyone can enjoy the Community Street Fair safely. Neither Thames Travel nor our own Festival Buses will be able to serve the Market Place until after 16.00 on Saturday. Full details on all Thames Travel bus diversions and taxi pick up locations will be available at the Town Information Office (open until 16.00), our Festival Box Office on the Kinecroft and our Festival Bus page .

For the Saturday only, we are operating an extra Park & Ride service from the South Oxfordshire District Council offices car park in Crowmarsh (on the East side of the river). Please use this or our Hithercroft parking to alleviate congestion in the town centre. Buses will serve both car parks until late.
