Wheelwrights' Bane

Formed in 1982, Wheelwright’s Bane are anchored in the English folk tradition. Playing dance tunes mostly from the British Isles, their style is influenced by blues, rock and jazz, which gives their performance energy and an emphasis on danceability. A number of their dance tunes are self-penned. These, and their arrangements of traditional tunes, celebrate the musical flexibility provided by the range of instruments at their disposal. The current line-up comprises Rex Morrey on whistles, recorder and alto sax, Dave Fenner on electric guitar, Richard Holland on keyboards and banjo, Howard Birchmore on bass guitar and harmonica, and Paul Critchfield on drums.
