Country For Old Men

Country For Old Men is a banjo driven Americana / Country / Blues / Funk band playing mainly original music but with the odd cover that will be familiar to most gig goers.

Meet the band...

Des Barkus is extremely experienced, having played extensively in the UK plus Texas and France. The great man quotes “like a chameleon, I change! It's the change that keeps me going and writing new songs for this band has set a new spark I hope will last and ignite! Reflecting my time spent in Texas and my love for Country music new and old, and I'm enjoying playing with three of the finest musicians!"

Dan Branigan aka Danjo the Banjo - Before Taking up the banjo, he played rhythm guitar in funk bands including the High Rollers from Calgary, Canada and London outfit Puppy Phat. He has adapted his own style of frailing / clawhammer banjo.

Henry Smith is a brilliant bassist (a great funkmeister) and has played with Stuart Copeland, Peter Gabriel and Hosan Ramsay

Nick Clack is very experienced and has gigged all around the world. He currently plays with The Mighty Redox and the Pete Fryer Band who both tour extensively. Nick has played lots of major festivals including Sidmouth (Folk); Brecon (Jazz); and Guilfest (Rock). He also recently played at the Cornbury festival.
